Polk Audio Surroundbar
Polk Audio has come up a with an great new item called
the SurroundBar. It consists of Five channels, One speaker and
Zero clutter. A concise easy to install package that eliminates
the mess of cables and speakers scattered around your home
theatre. The SurroundBar costs about $950, but you probably
will what to add a subwoofer as it is a little light in the
bass range. The SurroundBar has an extruded aluminum cabinet
and weighs about 25 pounds. It measures 42.5 inches wide,
4.5 inches high, and about 5 inches deep. The finish is
available in black or titanium with matching cloth grilles. It
also includes a wall mounting bracket and a table stand.
The Polk Audio system includes a 25 foot, five channel flat
cable to hook up the SurroundBar to your TV or AV system. The
speaker connectors are well labeled and are color coded.
Hooking them up to the speaker is a piece of cake.
The SurroundBar has three connection schemes that can
enhance your sound system. In the basic mode you coonect
all of the surround speakers to the SurroundBar's surround
channels. In th emodified mode you can connect up only
the SurroundBar's left, center, and right channels and use
supplemtal speakers on the rear walls. For advanced
systems, such a s with a 6.1 or 7.1 channel A/V receiver, you
connect the rear channels to one or two extra speakers and hook
up the other 5 channels to the SurroundBar as you normally
would. Polk Audio has put a lot of flexibility into a
small sysem.
